I’m Running My First 5K Because It’s Food-Driven. & You Should Join Me.
Content Produced in Partnership with Fit Foodie Festival
Crazy news, guys. I’m running my first 5K next month. Eek! And by that I mean, I’m power walking my first 5K. I want you to join me, Denver. No, I need you to join me. I’m actually terrified of the thought of running and need you there for moral support. But I’m super excited to be partnering with the Fit Foodie 5K and Run Festival, which will have tasty light bites at every mile marker and a vitality village at the finish line.
So why am I doing this?
5Ks have always intrigued me and doing one is on my list of 30 things I want to do in my 30s. I love dressing up, doing obstacle courses and getting colorful and muddy. But there hasn’t been that one that I was really like, yup, I need to wake up early and do that. Until now.
Billed as “the most delicious race you’ll ever run,” it should come as no surprise that food is my main motivation to do anything (even running apparently). It’s basically a food festival disguised as a healthy summer activity. I can get behind that routine. Brunch, but with the RUN highlighted. A calorie burned is a calorie earned, right?
Join me and you’ll get to feel good about your morning and be rewarded with tasty treats from all the best local restaurants along with a beer and wine garden, culinary and fitness demos, and tons of other surprises. And you’re personally invited to hang with me in the VIP “meet and greet” tent afterwards with my beautiful friend Robby from the Bachelorette.
Beyond filling our bellies, there’s an extra incentive to warm our hearts as a portion of the race proceeds go to supporting No Kid Hungry. Celebrity chefs, fitness stars, and all the feels, yeah, it’s going to be a cool event.
Here are the Deets:
- Fit Foodie 5K/10K
- Westminster City Park
- Race: July 29 at 8 a.m.
- Happy Hour Bib Pickup Friday night at 5280 Burger Bar (Denver)
- $45 / $55
Signup here with my promo code LODOWN for $10 off race entry.
Why should I signup? The better question is why wouldn’t you want to? You’ll get to hangout with me on a Saturday morning, get your warm fuzzies in for the day, feel the burn, and fill your belly.
Am I training? Kind of. I downloaded the app “couch to 5K” which basically has you run / walk at different intervals for increasing amounts of time. I may do it periodically, but my life’s a bit too random to commit to a real training program. It can’t be any worse than Machu Picchu or my first 14er which I also didn’t prepare for. That said, if anyone wants to go for a jog in the park in the next few weeks, holla at ‘yo girl.
